Salary: Starting from £39,689 - £51,000 per annum DOE

Our Front End Chapter is responsible for the creation and maintenance of a wide range of Web applications & services, both customer facing experiences and internal staff tooling. These cover the full range of customer types within the bank, including retail customers & business clients. Our Web systems are designed to be accessed via a number of platforms: Desktop, Mobile & Tablet.

As a Front End Senior Tech Specialist you’ll: 

  • Assess & estimate new work requests.
  • Build and enhance features within projects, adding unit & automation tests for high code coverage.
  • Create & control contributions to semantically versioned common code libraries.
  • Deploy applications using continuous integration & deployment systems.
  • Educate & inform and coach more junior members of the team during pull requests.
  • Fix bugs & identify root causes, to eliminate reoccurrence and minimise tech debt across systems.
  • Generate & implement new ideas for development approaches & architectural approaches.
  • Help improve, optimise & modernise our tech stack, leveraging your previous experience to avoid potential pitfalls & promote positive patterns! 

To be brilliant you’ll need to bring... 

  • A significant and successful proven track record in a Senior Developer role with SME experience programming large scale applications using Javascript or Typescript.
  • SME development experience of single page Web applications using React or similar frameworks (e.g. Angular, Vue).
  • Detailed understanding & practical experience implementing UI state management patterns e.g (Redux, Zustand).
  • Implementation experience of declarative routing patterns (e.g with React Router).
  • Extensive library dependency management using NPM or similar.
  • Expert knowledge of modern UI styling approaches using CSS, Sass & CSS-in-JSS solutions.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing unit & integration tests using Javascript test frameworks, e.g. Jest, Enzyme, Jasmine.
  • In depth experience of communicating with Microservice REST APIs, and a deep understanding of Networking/HTTP protocols.
  • Experience using version control tooling & repositories within larger scale operations, e.g. git, GitHub, Bitbucket
  • Understanding of agile work tracking/ticketing software such as Jira, Azure Boards.
  • Extensive experience educating & enforcing best practice software development principles, e.g. DRY, KISS, SOLID.
  • Identifying & mitigating against potential security vulnerabilities, within front end software development.
  • Experience working within strictly Object Oriented and Functional Programming paradigms and an understanding of the merits/distinctions of each.

It’s a bonus if you have the knowledge and experience below, but it’s not essential   

  • Automation testing solutions using Cypress.
  • Server caching state management solutions, e.g using SWR.
  • Monorepo & Micro FrontEnd solutions, e.g Lerna, Single Spa, 
  • Implementing accessible interfaces complying with WCAG 2.1 (or newer).
  • Defensive mitigations against OWASP top ten security risks.
  • Knowledge or experience of developing with the Microsoft Dynamics platform.
