Reporting to the Recovery & Resolution Senior Manager the Recovery & Restructuring Analyst will support the controlled delivery of the Group Recovery Plan and Restructuring Plan leveraging the skills and expertise of the wider business. They will be responsible for building and maintaining processes and controls to refresh the Recovery Plan and the Restructuring Plan ensuring that VMUK remains compliant.
Post the Global Financial Crisis regulators are increasingly concerned about how banks can manage stress situations under their own resources and not rely on taxpayer support. Banks are expected to have robust, actionable and tested recovery plans for managing these situations and, in a very worst, case credible plans that allow for their recapitalisation and restructuring. The role holder will oversee both of these critical regulatory and board deliverables at least annually. This will involve a pan bank, cross functional exercise to document our approach to a minimum of regulatory requirements and ideally reflecting the specific needs, risk and circumstances that we might find ourselves in.
Day to day you’ll:
Designing and running the stress scenarios that are required for the recovery plan across capital, funding and liquidity scenarios.
Executing key reporting and delivery processes and controls to deliver the recovery plan and resolution plan refreshes in accordance with the overall delivery plan on a timely basis.
Prepare and maintain relevant process and control documentation, ensuring documentation meets the Group’s standards and to ensure processes are clearly articulated for others to follow as necessary.
Supporting the business to ensure the Recovery Options are appropriate and executable, and oversee the development of future Recovery Options which have been identified for development
Working with the business to develop and enhance the Early Warning Indicator metrics,
Assist in the development and document the Recovery Plan and the Restructuring Plan.
Continuously monitor and assess areas for improvement to enhance processes and documentation.
Work with Finance, Risk, Treasury, Risk and Business Areas as part of successful and coherent delivery of Recovery and Restructuring requirements
Ensure the work of self is carried out in full compliance with Group standards and code of practice
Perform other ad hoc tasks as required by the Senior Manager
Working with the Capital Management Team, Treasury and the Business Resilience team to ensure Policies, reporting, stress testing and scenario planning are given appropriate considerations.
Building strong relationships across the Bank and the external finance community.
To be successful you’ll need to bring:
A professional qualification in finance, business administration or a related discipline or alternatively longer practical experience if non-qualified.
Experience of a Financial Services Financial Planning process or equivalent would be preferable.
Experience of working as part of a Finance delivery team, executing reporting processes as part of a broader end-to-end reporting cycle (such as the Recovery Plan or Resolution Plan)
Process, controls and risk management experience
Ability to work as part of a collaborative delivery team
To provide continuous improvement to the role and the outputs required of it.
Understand balance sheet and profit and loss account drivers.
Flexible approach to requirements of timetables and team responsibilities
