Basic Salary: £ 51,500 – circa £67,000 depending on experience

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) helps the Bank to comply with its obligations under the UK GDPR through the provision of advice, the performance of assurance, the provision of training and providing support in relation to privacy impact assessments and personal data breaches. There are four data protection managers in the DPO team dedicated to maintaining high privacy standards across the Bank. High privacy standards help maintain a relationship of trust between the Bank and its staff, customers and regulators and supports the Bank’s Purpose of Making you Happier about Money.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Providing cutting-edge privacy advice to the Bank, supporting project and business as usual activities;
  • Performing privacy-focused assurance over key Bank processes;
  • Reviewing a high volume of High-Risk Privacy Impact Assessments and making reasoned recommendations to the Data Protection Officer in relation to each; and
  • Managing reporting activities within the DPO team.

There are a few essentials you need to bring:

  • An excellent understanding of UK-GDPR and related UK privacy law and regulation;
  • Experience performing privacy-related oversight and assurance over complex data processing activities;
  • Experience in performing proportionality assessments, legitimate interest assessments and delivering privacy advice and risk opinions in complex areas;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Competence in Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel and Teams; and
  • A great work ethic.

It’s a bonus if you have…but not essential:

  • One or more relevant privacy qualifications (such as CIPM or CIPP/E);
  • Experience of providing privacy advice and assurance in digital environments; and
  • Experience in the financial services sector preferably in the privacy area.

Point to note…
