​We have an awesome opportunity to join our Methods & Capability Team as an Agile Practice Lead. The Methods & Capability Team support the whole of Digital Engineering, and as well as our wider Agile Community. We’re on a mission to ensure all our colleagues get the training and support to set them up for success, this isn’t just about the tech skills, it’s about getting the basics right, it’s about growing and evolving together, it’s about our long-term ambition to become the UK’s leading Digital bank. In a nutshell, as an Agile Practice Lead, you’ll be supporting the Scrum Master Chapter, Tribes and the Product Owners as well as wider bank colleagues when required. You’ll be a superb coach and leader, driving constant communication and rapid problem solving to deliver a great learning and product experience. You’ll be coaching individuals in all ways of Agile software practices and help to embed of Agile ways of working ensuring consistency of standards across all our Tribes. 

But what will I be doing? Day to day you’ll be…

  • Supporting, mentoring and coaching colleagues in Agile Ways of Working
  • Developing a partnership approach with management/leadership/executives and key change roles on how best to approach adopting agile for our organisational needs.
  • Providing guidance and supporting strategic leaders when implementing a business change/transformation programme using the agile methodology.
  • Coaching multiple teams, ensuring alignment to organisation and programme goals and outcomes.
  • Providing reasonable support and guidance on starting up an Agile team and working with the new team and supporting them until self-sustaining, including:
    • Team working agreements and charters.
    • Agile framework education.
    • Roles and responsibilities.
    • Product backlog creation and refinement.
    • Supporting existing agile teams and improving their practices. 
    • Supporting and mentoring key people in key roles affecting team improvements - e.g. Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Engineers, Business Analysts, Design specialists, Testers, Release and Operations.
  • Designing and delivering training workshops as required, which may include:
    • Leadership off-sites.
    • Release planning.
    • Sprint zero.
    • Design sprints.
    • Backlog prioritisation.
    • Team inception.
    • DevOps culture.
  • Coaching developing operations teams towards good engineering practices, including:
    • XP practices.
    • Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD).
    • Test Driven Development (TDD).
    • Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
    • Supporting and mentoring key people in key roles affecting change - e.g. engineering leads, operations, internal agile coaches, product management, scrum master, communities of practice, etc.
    • Helping to enhance and create a culture of learning and sharing 
To be brilliant you’ll need to bring…
  • Significant and previous experience in a similar Agile Practice Lead or Agile coaching role.
  • A proven track record of coaching a team on Agile practices and establishing & evolving the Agile methodology to deliver max business value on time
  • Proven ability to promote innovative thinking and self-improvement within the team
  • Previous experience of designing and delivering Agile coaching sessions and collateral 
  • In depth experience in Agile Development, with specific Scrum Master (or similar) experience. 
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex messages and teach new concepts
  • The ability to resolve conflicts within the team before they become an issue, particularly complex dependencies 
  • Knowledge of relevant domains/products/journeys
  • The ability to manage team availability and ensuring the appropriate training and tools are in place to set the team and individuals up for success
  • The ability to build a sense of trust and rapport that creates a comfortable and effective working environment and relationships 
The Icing on the cake would be….
  • Past developer, designer or analyst experience
