Cyber Threat Intelligence is part of the Information Security & Resilience (IS&R) team that sits within the Digital & Innovation function and is responsible for keeping our colleagues and customers safe. The team actively monitor the cyber threat landscape to identify new potential attack methods and techniques and provide specialist cyber security advice to ensure the Bank is protected. This is a fast paced and multifaceted role as the team support ongoing security incidents, engage in cross sector intelligence sharing and deliver intelligence assessments to key stakeholders both within and out with IS&R. It's a very exciting time to join as we move to consider how our intelligence requirements improve our threat intelligence sharing capability and automate our threat data feeds.  We want to deliver on our objective of implementing a more efficient process for actioning threat data and allowing more time for analysis and assessment.

Day to day you’ll…

  • Keep abreast of developments in cyber-attack techniques and vectors and apply to Virgin Money to influence change.
  • Engage with key business and technical stakeholders to provide cyber-security advice, guidance and direction.
  • Represent the Group at industry sharing events and within trusted cross-sector communities.
  • Manage and utilise various threat intelligence tools and services.
  • Deliver actionable cyber threat intelligence to support information security controls.
  • Complete regular threat assessments analysing internal & external events, assessing potential impact on the Group and preparing communications in response.
  • Constantly look for ways to improve and mature the way we work and how we manage actionable intelligence.
  • Expand your knowledge of the threat landscape by working with different stakeholders internally and externally.

As this is a specialist role, we’d like you to have experience of working in a threat intelligence team and there’s a few more essentials you’ll need to bring…

  • The ability to think for yourself and communicate your ideas.
  • Insatiable curiosity – to never be short of ideas and the willingness to reach out to others.
  • Some knowledge of and passion for improving information security.
  • The desire to help, and to dive right in, to take ownership of problems.
  • Ability to analyse sources of information to determine reliability.
  • An analytical mindset and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Some working knowledge of technical security concepts with practical experience of multiple Information Security domains.
  • Knowledge of data collection tools and techniques for collecting and analysing data.
  • The ability to engage with senior management and key stakeholders to influence decisions to strengthen security across the Group in line with an evolving threat landscape.
  • Great presentation, oral and written communication skills.

The following would be brilliant…but not essential...

  • Formal cyber security accreditation.
  • Knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework or experience at mapping and assessing threat actors’ Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs).
