We’re on the search for an Unsecured Credit Risk Innovation Manager. So, if you have a passion for finding new ways of working and using innovative ideas to deliver great initiatives then you might just have found your next step! This new role will report into the Head of Unsecured Credit Risk and will lead the innovation activity across our unsecured credit portfolio on their behalf.
Driven by external factors and competitor activity, credit strategies, data, and monitoring tools are constantly evolving, and this role will be key in ensuring Virgin Money are at the leading edge of developments as we continue to be competitive with industry peers.
We are looking for someone with an appetite of searching for new innovative data solutions, investigating options, and working closely with internal stakeholders and 3rd parties to ensure solutions deliver tangible results. You’ll have the energy to explore additional techniques and embed these within the wider credit team to enhance the approach to insight the portfolio and strategy monitoring, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; Whilst also showing leadership to drive forward the team culture by creating clear visions and frameworks.
You’ll work closely with the Chief Credit Officer and other internal stakeholders such as Risk Analytics, Commercial, and CIO colleagues to ensure ideas and solutions are driven to tangible outcomes. Along with these stakeholders, you’ll work more broadly across the Credit Risk team, Operational Senior Management in Commercial, the Finance team and the Customer Experience team.
Day to day you’ll:
- Lead initiatives to enhance data, strategies, insight and culture across the team
- Design and lead analysis into initiatives, impact assessments and building business cases in line with Group practice and approved through the necessary governance.
- Liaise and lead Internal stakeholders to ensure they are equally energised and engaged.
- Keep abreast of external developments and asses the Bank’s position relative to these through advice and insight to the Head of Unsecured Credit Risk, the Credit Leadership Team, other internal stakeholders across the Commercial and Customer Experience teams, and Governance Forums as appropriate.
- Work closely with the wider unsecured credit risk team to understand team priorities and help identify opportunities to drive change.
- Deliver high-quality customer service, including implementation of a culture to continuously improve and rationalise processes and related complexity.
- Support Senior Management in the provision of meaningful insight and recommendations, along with representing Unsecured Credit Risk at relevant meetings, committees, and projects as and when required.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate standards, policies, processes, and procedures and with all external legal, regulatory, and voluntary codes and practice (working with both internal and external 3rd parties).
- Ensure quality control capability to ensure all analysis and insight is completed to the highest standard. This includes working with Risk Analytics and other sources of data and reporting to ensure the availability and completeness of the inputs required to support insight.
There are a few essentials you need to bring …
- Experience in Financial Services, especially around developing credit strategies and / or credit monitoring approaches
- Be a self-starter, happy to work independently
- Be brilliant at stakeholder management
- Be able to deliver complex insight and opinion to challenging timescales with agreed resources.
- Proven track record to turn complex and diverse results into readily understandable assessments, highlighting key aspects of operational/ strategic performance.
- Experience of delivering to, and working with, senior management.
- An aptitude for getting the best out of a team, through coaching and developing
- Be a brilliant facilitator, communicator and influencer
- Have an eye for identifying key issues, trends, and themes from complex information
We'd love you to have (but not essential)...
- Experience in change management would be helpful
- Strong people management skills to help lead and deliver initiatives working with a range of stakeholders and colleagues across the wider credit team.
- Experience in understanding complex issues both within Risk Management and across the wider UK business.
- Experience in AI / ML techniques in credit strategies and credit monitoring.
- Understanding of the Legal and Regulatory framework and agenda
