We are starting an exciting journey to grow our team, and this brand-new role has been created to lead our team who support Controls management alongside our Business Banking colleagues.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading a team to develop and embed efficient, evidence-based control management and testing frameworks to demonstrate adherence to the Risk Management Framework (RMF), Group policies and minimum control standards.
- Manage the Business Banking reporting and governance processes, including but not limited to, Business Risk Board and relevant onward governance (such as Enterprise Risk Committee (ERC)).
- Lead the teams to manage and embed Risk Transformation and other risk related projects in the first line of defence
- Develop and execute an effective and dynamic annual plan of key controls testing that is aligned to the Business Banking risk profile adopting a pragmatic approach to risk management.
- Provide support, guidance and SME controls advice to support the timely completion of actions arising from Audit and Risk Assurance activities
- Manage the relationship with the 2nd and 3rd Line Of Defence (LOD) stakeholders, ensuring a co-ordinated, proportionate and an efficient approach is applied to the management of risk and controls.
We need you to have
- Background in Business Banking, with a strong understanding of key risks within the Business Lending environment.
- Proven risk management experience across the 1st, 2nd or 3rd line of defence, demonstrating sound judgement, strong control awareness and the ability to assess materiality effectively.
- Confident decision‑maker, able to form balanced, independent conclusions backed by careful analysis and a well‑reasoned rationale.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce high‑quality, concise and insightful reporting.
- Skilled at influencing senior stakeholders, including presenting effectively in formal and committee forums.
- Strong, demonstrable knowledge of Risk & Control Frameworks, including controls design, control effectiveness, monitoring, and remediation expectations.
- Ability to embed and evidence adherence to the Risk Management Framework (RMF), Group policies and minimum control standards.
