As our Head of Regulatory Conduct Risk & Assurance, you’ll successfully lead the newly combined Regulatory & Conduct team and the Risk Assurance team.  Reporting to our Chief Compliance Officer, you’ll be undertaking a critical role with overall responsibility to ensure the Group meets and assures all its regulatory, conduct and compliance obligations to all UK regulators, and provides assurance of such to the Group Board. 

Day to day you’ll:

  • Lead the Bank’s strategy and direction for managing and overseeing compliance with regulatory and conduct obligations.
  • Protect Customers, the Bank and Senior Managers through a broad and deep understanding of the UK Regulatory Environment and associated Conduct and Compliance priorities.
  • Lead engagement across all divisions and franchises to oversee and advise on all matters of regulatory compliance and conduct risk management, based on trusted relationships with LT and division LTs.
  • Own the Group’s interpretation and application of existing, emerging and new regulation, as it applies to the Group’s existing and future business, and direct oversight of execution and implementation of all new regulation
  • Lead the delivery of 2nd line Assurance activities in relation to all Regulatory, Conduct and Compliance matters, based on plan agreed with the Board, communicating outcomes to LT, Board and regulators.
  • Influence thinking in relation to regulation, conduct and culture, including in the context of the Group’s Purpose, our ambition to disrupt the status quo and emerging industry trends.
  • Develop, maintain and embed the Group’s Conduct Risk and Regulatory & Compliance Risk Appetite Statements (RAS).
  • We’re straight up here so will want you to translate strategy into clear red-hot action plans and share these effectively with your team who will see the value of their work and how it’s in line with our purpose and use it inform decisions
  • You’ll seek to deliver the very best performance through your team by keeping our Purpose, Strategic Goals and Values & Behaviours at the heart of all you do and develop your team with stretching goals as you build capability and ambition.
  • Deputise for the Chief Compliance Officer when required.

  • A significant track record of successfully leading Compliance and Assurance functions, with a deep specialist knowledge and experience of UK Regulation.
  • Gravitas with strong influencing skills and experience of engaging with Executive and Senior Managers.

  • A natural ability to bring people together to work collaboratively and achieve positive outcomes.
  • An agile approach to leadership through which you create safe environments for colleagues to experiment and learn from mistakes.

  • Strong networks and links with external parties such as the FCA.

This role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, and therefore requires enhanced pre-employment checks.  This includes a credit and criminal record check plus we’ll ask for 6 years' of regulatory references. Thereafter, you’ll be subject to periodic employment checks whilst in role
