We’re looking for straight up specialist to join our newly structured credit strategy team.

Your role will include driving the delivery of credit risk strategies to ensure the portfolio achieves growth and risk objectives across all stages of the credit lifecycle.

In a nutshell…

Credit Strategy Specialists are primarily responsible for utilising their knowledge and experience, backed by cutting-edge analysis, to drive the direction of the unsecured propositions and portfolios. They use their well-developed skills to draw conclusions, offer solutions and make recommendations that contribute to achieving our businesses ambitions. This ensures that the bank grows in line with risk appetite, within regulatory guidelines and delivers delightfully surprising customer solutions.

Here’s what you’ll be doing…

  • Maintain supportive and collaborative internal relationships inc. 2nd line risk, underwriting, frontline, compliance, customer insight and product teams as well as external relationships with third parties such as Credit Reference Agencies, Benchmarking Agencies and Insight providers.
  • Identify opportunities to drive organic growth that represents responsible lending and fair value customer outcomes.
  • Support in the development, evaluation and delivery of key strategic change. Adapting engagement for the numerous stakeholder groups and ensuring relevant communications are articulated to the rest of the business.
  • Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to current and new regulatory requirements – modifying and adapting strategies/monitoring where necessary.
  • Take responsibility for self-development, including the appropriate prioritisation of work, understanding the skills required to complete the role including analytical self-sufficiency and to demonstrate the VM & Making you happier about money culture.
  • Placing customers (internal and external) at the heart of decision making, ensuring that Credit Risk and wider VM business colleagues are customer focussed and committed to achieving the right outcomes for customers and for VM.
  • Support the running of monthly risk governance, sharing MI trends, strategy updates and general credit considerations.
  • Monitor the performance of the business and provide early warning of adverse risk trends including new and emerging risks.

  • Previous experience in an analytical role you will be familiar with data mining software and have a naturally inquisitive nature

Point to note…

At the minute, depending on which team you are joining, lots of us are working from home. This is something that may change over time, and if so, we will come together in one of our hub locations, giving you the chance to meet your new colleagues in person.
