We’re looking for a Senior Technical Specialist to join our busy team in Incident Response within Security Operations, to lead our Vulnerability Management area as we continue to embed and optimise this within Virgin Money. Information security risks are a key threat to the Group‘s overall standing, reputation and performance, as evidenced by recent impacts of sophisticated attacks on a number of high-profile companies and financial institutions. As the Group seeks to grow its profile in an increasingly competitive digital arena, the IT Security Operations capability must adapt the strategy to be responsive to these challenges.

This critical role will contribute to the development, maintenance and overall delivery of IT Security Operations services for the Bank, reporting to the IT Security Operations, Incident Response, DLP and Vulnerability Management Manager. The role is part of a team which protects the bank 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

You'll be part of the team who contribute to the day to day running of the Security Operations Centre team. You'll have responsibility for operation of the Bank’s Vulnerability Management, Pen Testing and SDLC security controls, giving strategic input and supporting the team as a point of escalation, and providing specialist security expertise for vulnerabilities which threaten Virgin Money by leading the appropriate incident response.

To be successful you’ll bring experience in…

  • Communicating with technical and Business stakeholders across the organisation to ensure the Security Operations requirements are articulated and understood
  • Influencing the right outcomes for the organisation to reduce risk, increase quality and reduce manual effort
  • Taking the lead to drive forward an improvements programme for our internal security controls to improve efficiencies and reduce risk
  • Providing advice on appropriate Security Operations controls across a number of technical disciplines
  • Working closely with security technology vendors to identify risks, control improvements and perform remediation
  • IT and Information Security best practice
  • Team working and the ability to be self-directed on task completion
  • Demonstrating a professional ‘can do' attitude and high levels of motivation
  • Working under pressure, managing multiple priorities in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment
  • Project Delivery

We’d love you to have…

  • Knowledge and understanding of Vulnerability Management solutions, with the ability to operate as an SME and provide support to develop existing team members
  • Self-driven qualities and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to influence and drive change in a collaborative way
  • Proven ability to make sound pragmatic decisions and judgements under tight timelines
  • The ability to engage senior management and stakeholders to influence decisions to improve security across the company
  • Experience of risk assessments within a large Corporate environment
  • Willingness to expand and progress knowledge and experience within the IS environment
  • Experience with advanced analytical and problem-solving techniques
  • Industry related security qualification (e.g. CISSP, CISM) or equivalent practical security experience
  • Proven experience in managing improvements programmes to reduce risk, increase quality and reduce manual effort and delivering control improvements across multiple technical disciplines
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure
