Exciting opportunities exist within our London and South Strategic Finance team right now.  Our Strategic Finance team supports commercial, corporate, PLC and private equity backed businesses all across the region. As an Associate Director, Corporate Banking you will be responsible for supporting the relationship management and growth of our larger corporate and PLC businesses to optimise income and Return on Equity for the Bank. The role is far-reaching and will allow the role holder to develop their exposure to more complex lending structures and transactions and delivering first class customer service.

Day to day you’ll­…

  • Be a key member of the London and South Strategic Finance team primarily accountable for assisting in generating and optimising income and Return on Equity, focused solely on larger mid-market, Corporate and PLC customers and prospects
  • Assist in the relationship management and sourcing of high-quality customers and strengthening the brand visibility in the local and regional marketplace
  • Work with the Corporate Director, evaluating and generating opportunities with existing and new customers and assist in the conversion thereof from initial meetings through to completion of new transactions including analysis of new business proposals and undertaking independent research on companies and sub-sectors
  • Prepare detailed credit applications in respect of existing customers and new proposals, including the preparation and analysis of financial models
  • Instruct, complete and process internal and external documentation to ensure loan and security documentation is prepared and in order and due diligence is correctly scoped
  • Provide new to bank customers with a seamless on-boarding experience, working collaboratively with colleagues across the business.
  • Support the Corporate Director in managing and monitoring the portfolio, ensuring compliance on all credit, operations, loan administration and other risk and administrative matters as necessary
  • Monitor ongoing compliance with the facility agreement and covenants, and ensuring that all pre-and post-deal housekeeping and internal compliance requirements are met
  • Liaise effectively with customers, various Agency functions and Credit Department in respect of existing customer reviews and consent requests
  • Develop and expand your own network of internal and external contacts

To be successful you’ll need to bring

  • A passion for – and good knowledge of – supporting London businesses
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills with an ability to understand and interpret financial statements and due diligence reports;
  • Excel financial modelling skills
  • Display strong organisational skills and effective relationship management and project management ability so as to maintain excellent levels of customer service
  • Commitment to consistently provide high standards of work with outstanding attention to detail
  • Capacity to cope with complex situations, tight deadlines and to have a flexible approach to challenges and problem solving
  • A passion for delivering outstanding customer service
  • Good interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of engaging with and working within the professional community
  • Be a strong team player.

The following would be brilliant, but is not essential

  • A relevant vocational financial services qualification e.g. Chartered Banker, Chartered Accountant etc.
  • A tertiary qualification in a business discipline. Further qualifications are desirable, but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of systems and processes in a financial services environment
  • Knowledge of Loan Market Association loan and security documentation plus the operation of Syndicated/Club transactions
  • Understanding of risk and compliance requirements in line with the role
  • A knowledge of lending and securities policy and procedures.
