Join Virgin Money as we transform our team into one that is ready to meet the challenges of the future, setting us up to support our ambition to disrupt the status quo and turn traditional banking on its head. We’re on the lookout for like-minded individuals and innovators to help drive our strategy forward. We’re also transforming how we work, offering our colleagues more choice, control and flexibility to live and work how they choose with A Life More Virgin.

Here’s what it means for YOU:

  • 38.5 days annual leave for all colleagues (including bank holidays and pro rata if part-time)
  • Five extra paid well-being days per year
  • A 35-hour working week
  • 20 weeks paid, gender neutral family leave (52 weeks in total) for expectant parents and those looking to adopt
  • Market leading Pension & Private Medical Insurance
  • Flexible benefits including Cycle to Work, Wellness & Health Assessments and Critical Illness
  • Ability to work anywhere in the UK (where the role allows)

And you get these Red-Hot Rewards from day one!

As part of the Prudential Advice & Assurance team you’ll play an important role making sure that we identify and implement all of the ever-changing regulatory requirements.  Our purpose means even greater responsibility to ensure we’re a safe and sound firm in the eyes of our customers, the banking regulators and investors. That’s the ‘assurance’ bit but we’re also on hand to support all areas of the bank to interpret rules correctly and to give ’advice’.

Here’s what you’ll be doing…

  • Bringing it altogether for the Bank. Who needs to know what about banking rules? What’s changing? What does it mean for us now and in the future?
  • Taking queries from all areas of the Bank to help them with regulatory rule interpretations.
  • Giving your opinion on how we’ve implemented rules and that all the controls to make this work are doing their job.
  • Giving fair, balanced and evidenced judgments on what you see. We need your opinion.
  • Developing and applying your understanding of the legal and regulatory framework and agenda.
  • Providing views to support senior management in their interactions with the PRA.
  • We’re always at our best when working as a team and you’ll be a key player working with other areas of Risk, Finance and Franchises.
  • Working with UK Finance to make sure VMUK’s voice is heard.
  • Applying consideration of the broader purpose and the long-term context of prudential regulation within the wider bank’s strategy.

To be brilliant you must have…

  • Insatiable curiosity is what this role is all about with the ability to work through complex papers.
  • But we also need you to be able to explain complex topics in straight-up language.
  • The commitment to work with lots of other teams across the Bank to ensure that we’re always on top of regulatory change.
  • Experience in pulling together complex and often disparate information from various sources to identify key risks and provide valued advice.
  • Ability to retain an independent and balanced approach with firmness in decisions.
  • Flexible approach to requirements of timetables and team responsibilities.
  • Strong business orientation and an ability and willingness to view issues from both a commercial and regulatory perspective.
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate outputs within agreed timeframes.
  • Demonstrating excellent team member behaviours.

The icing on the cake would be..

  • If you have direct experience of banking regulations that would be brilliant, e.g. SME knowledge of financial performance reporting standards and techniques, capital regulations (Basel, CRR etc).
  • Experience from working in a range of disciplines such as legal, accounting, treasury, finance or risk management, then all of these provide a great background with transferable skills to this role.

We really need you to have the skills and experience listed in the ‘To be brilliant you must have’ section above, but the rest is just our wish list, so don’t let that put you off applying, we’d love to hear from you!

Now the legal bit…
Living A Life More Virgin allows our colleagues to be based anywhere in the UK (if the role allows it) but we will need to you to confirm you have the Right to Work in the UK.

If we offer you a job and you accept, there are some checks we need to complete before you can start with us. This will include a credit and criminal record check, as well as providing 3 years' worth of satisfactory references.
