Our Team

We need the Risk Data team within Model Risk & Analytics (MR&A) to keep our Purpose, Strategic Aims and Values & Behaviours at the heart of everything they do, to make sure that we are a responsible and safe pair of hands for our customers’ and investors’ money.

This is an exciting time to join the team as it plays a key role in numerous bank-wide projects and continues to monitor and validate Risk data to ensure that a wide range of stakeholders can use it with confidence for activities including portfolio analysis; model development; and both internal and external reporting and MI.  We are looking for someone who can help us continue to enhance our capability.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the sourcing and development of new data feeds and datasets for both heritages, across all products.
  • Rebuilding, streamlining, and automating existing data processes.
  • Providing SME knowledge for Risk data for numerous bank-wide projects.
  • Leading the investigation and resolution of Data Quality Issues (DQIs) within the Bank's numerous data sources and repositories.  
  • Supporting the Risk Data Manager and provide mentoring and coaching for junior team members.
  • Designing and maintaining controls for ensuring the quality of the data produced within the team and the wider business is fit for purpose.
  • Liaising with CRAs, bank-wide data forums and business stakeholders to ensure the timely resolution of issues.

We need you to have 

  • Significant experience in banking, risk management and data management.
  • Extensive experience with data mining tools e.g. SAS, SQL etc.
  • Expert understanding of data manipulation and ETL processes.
  • A high-level qualification in a numerical or coding-based discipline, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experienced in building trusted relationships with key stakeholder, both internally and externally including conflict and challenge management.
  • A logical approach to problem-solving in relation to both technical and business issues.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential 

  • Good knowledge of risk systems and data landscape within at least one of our heritages
  • Strong knowledge of data management, including industry-wide  concepts such as BCBS 239
  • Understanding of Credit Reference Agency reporting and associated data.

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
