Our Team
The Strategic and Advanced Analytics function (SAA) has four key capabilities – Customer Interaction Management, Customer Analytics and Reporting, Data Science and Data Design.
Data Design supports the other functions by creating centralised data marts through regular business as usual (BAU) processes, providing data management oversight, and using our technical expertise to support key projects within the bank

What you’ll be doing

  • Ownership of the Data Design BAU processes
  • Working alongside the Data Design Senior Analyst to ensure the BAU processes are run according to agreed schedules, and to investigate and resolve issues
  • Identifying and prioritise potential improvements to BAU processes
  • Developing new BAU processes and implement these, and maintain and manage changes to existing BAU processes
  • Ensuring we have adequate coverage of automated data and error checks
  • Communicating effectively with the other SAA teams and bank stakeholders to support change initiatives and provide BAU updates
  • Coaching the Data Design Senior Analyst
  • Running the SAA Data Management Forum, with a focus on data retention, identification and documentation of critical data items, data lineage and process documentation

We need you to have

  • Extensive experience of building data manipulation processes in SAS or SQL, with the ability to balance between efficiency, maintainability and simplicity
  • Confidence to analyse complicated processes
  • The ability to independently manage and prioritise your own workloads
  • A track record of successfully coaching more junior colleagues
  • Experience of testing and peer reviewing code
  • The ability to holistically review problems and apply your insatiable curiosity to implement better solutions. 

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

  • Good understanding of relevant regulations, eg GDPR, and data governance
  • Experience of using Azure tools
  • Knowledge of R / Python

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
