Salary range: £52,800 - £66,000 per annum DOE + red-hot benefits

Our Team
Internal Audit give the Board and senior management the independent view of what is working and what isn’t. As what VM does becomes more reliant on technology and automated processes, so the opportunity and the need to use data to provide insight and analysis to support our opinions has grown. The data analytics team within IA provide the technical expertise and insight to the wider function on audit work to help deliver better, more insightful opinions that help keep our customers and colleagues safe.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide DA expertise on audits:
- Work with audit teams to identify opportunities to use on audits.
- Liaise with technology and business stakeholders to understand and obtain data for audit work.
- Execute robust data analytics extracts and tests to support audit work.
- Provide audit teams with a clear articulation of work performed and its conclusions to support audit workpaper write-ups.
- Act as a champion for DA within the department to drive adoption of a data-driven approach to assurance.
- Develop a strong understanding of the VM data environment to enhance audit planning and execution
- Support and develop internal reporting tools to support internal and external reporting needs.
- Help increase DA capability across the department through on-audit coaching and group learning.
Note: whilst the data analytics team work closely with audit teams, this role is aligned to the ‘Utilising Our Data’ career direction and is not a conventional auditor role.
We need you to have
- Strong technical skills including advanced expertise in at least one of SAS, SQL, Python, R, Power Query/M. Advanced Excel skills required and experience of SharePoint useful.
- The ability to quickly understand how data is structured, where it is sourced from and how to use it to achieve the goals for each audit.
- Excellent communication skills to be able to articulate the results of data analytics work to non-technical audiences.
- Strong collaborative skills to work with audit teams and technical teams across the Bank.
- A drive to find opportunities to use data analytics effectively to deliver as much value as possible on each audit.
- An ability to work across multiple projects and successfully deliver quality results on time.
It’s a bonus if you have but not essential
- Good understanding of risk and control.
- Experience of data visualisation techniques and tools.
