Our Team
An exciting opportunity exists within our Energy and Environment team right now. As part of it’s wider ESG strategy, the bank is targeting 20% of business lending to businesses driving the transition towards the next economy by the end of 2027, and to reducing the carbon intensity of its loan book 50% by 2030. Delivering on these commitments means growing our clean energy lending book from around £400m today to £750m.

What you’ll be doing
- Working as part of a team of 6, alongside two senior directors, two directors, and the team head.
- Working exclusively in the energy and environment arena and with a focus on clean energy limited-recourse project finance transactions.
- Helping to structure transactions in line with both customer and bank requirements.
- Project managing transactions, including liaising with external advisors, through to financial close/ first drawdown.
- Assisting with writing credit papers, including reviewing and analysing complex financial models.
- Appraising and evaluating new lending opportunities.
- Maintaining excellent levels of customer service for existing borrowers and providing new to bank customers with a seamless on-boarding experience, working collaboratively with colleagues across the business.
- Identifying, researching and meeting prospective customers.
- Maintaining team visibility in the local and national marketplaces by attending industry events and being visible on social media, helping to build our reputation as one of the foremost banks providing appropriate and innovative funding solutions in this area.
- Providing holiday cover for the portfolio director.
We need you to have
- An interest in clean energy and the environment.
- A relevant professional qualification e.g. Chartered Accountant, Chartered Banker etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to influence and support decision making and getting things done – right first time – for the customer.
- Experience of report writing.
- Experience of building, running, and analysing the results of financial models.
- Experience in striving for excellence and creating a best practice service environment that drives customer orientated solutions.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Experience working in corporate banking, understanding networks and stakeholders, systems and work processes.
- Energy, enthusiasm, new ideas and a willingness to challenge the status quo and find new and better ways of doing things.
It’s a bonus if you have but not essential
- A track record of having worked and succeeded in a comparable environment.
- An understanding of compliance and risk as it relates to the role.
