Our Team

Our people are critical to the successful delivery of the bank's priorities. Our HR Case Management Team play a pivotal role to the successful delivery of the banks strategic agenda by ensuring our colleagues can provide the best service for our customers.  The team provide specialist HR case management support for the most complex of HR cases. 

As we take the next exciting step in our journey as part of the Nationwide Group, we have a brilliant opportunity within our HR Team for an experienced HR Case Management Consultant.  The team are responsible for coaching leaders through all our HR policies to a point of resolution.  Every situation is different which brings variety to the day.  It is important that you can work at pace, in a fast and pressurised environment, while balancing stakeholders in a safe and timely manner.  You will work as part of a team who closely support each other but you will manage your own caseload and will be required to provide timely and trusted advice to the business as required.

The work can require you to connect face to face, virtually or over the phone. There will be a need to connect with colleagues monthly in our Glasgow or Newcastle hub, so ideally you will live within a 30-mile radius.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting business leaders at all levels with the most complex people management cases through to resolution.
  • Providing support and guidance for but not limited to investigations, whistleblowing cases, formal hearings, conduct, capability and appeals.
  • Leading on the design and delivery of tailored people leader development to support the practical implementation of Virgin Money’s HR policies.
  • Using data and insights to provide the business with solutions to maximise commercial performance through effective coaching and support to Senior business stakeholders.
  • Responding to complex queries and providing coaching support to our wider HR Advice and Guidance Teams.
  • Supporting the development of policies, guidance and toolkits.
  • Working closely with our wider HR teams & Employment legal team as required.
  • Adhoc work requests or project work which may include, development of new risk and controls, third party supplier management or wider.
  • Using our Case Management systems to record all case management activity.

We need you to have

  • Strong proven experience in complex HR case management, preferably in a fast-paced regulated, financial services and unionised environment
  • The natural ability to build strong relationships to influence, partner and coach stakeholders on challenging people management issues
  • A sound knowledge of current employment law and ACAS guidelines with the ability to apply this with a commercial lens in a workplace setting
  • Demonstrable excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with experience in complex letter and report writing
  • Superb attention to detail with the ability to balance workloads from different sources by prioritising cases appropriately and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Proven track record of identifying trends, process improvements and proposing suitable solutions
  • Proficient in building trusted relations working closely with various teams across the company and managing stakeholders.

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
