What you’ll be doing

  • Working as part of an agile team, you will assist in the evolution of the Java Microservice and Cloud Platform. This will ensure it remains fit for the future and supports changing requirements and working practices in a fast-changing technology landscape.
  • Identifying, implementing or suggesting changes that improve service to internal and external customers.
  • Support & guide junior team members whilst ensuring the delivery and management of tasks across legacy and cloud-based Java stacks. You will deliver quality outputs in a timely manner that meet stakeholder needs, focusing not only on what is delivered but also on the quality.

We need you to have

  • A proven track record with 5+ years of in-depth experience in Java (version 17 or higher) development at an enterprise scale, using Spring-boot or similar frameworks.
  • SME knowledge and significant practical experience in Agile development with a strong grasp of automation, continuous integration (CI/CD), test-driven development (TDD) and continuous refactoring.
  • In depth knowledge and significant practical experience of performing code reviews and drive software standards and best practices.
  • Cloud computing technologies (e.g. Azure Cloud) with practical experience working with container based restful microservices (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • SpringBoot, Spring Cloud Netflix Stack, Maven/Gradle.
  • JMS, ORM tools, e.g. Hibernate.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

  • SDLC/Dev Ops - Git, CI/CD pipeline frameworks such as Jenkins/ADO, SonarQube, NexusIQ.
  • Experience of Migrating legacy Java platforms.
  • Knowledge of Middleware products e.g. IBM IIB/ACE.

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
