Our Team
At Virgin Money Threat Intelligence, we deliver accurate and actionable analysis to help the bank prevent and respond to network defence, fraud, supplier and insider threats. We are in an exciting growth phase, with a mandate to build out our Cyber Fraud Fusion intelligence. This is a highly collaborative team on a mission to become an industry-leading intelligence function. The role is critical to our ability to defend customers from a wide range of fraud threats, with an opportunity to help build out a new capability that interoperates between our Cyber Security and Fraud Functions.   

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing analysis and subject-matter expertise about the fraud threat environment, including but not limited to mobile malware, malicious domain impersonation, account takeover fraud, and Business Email Compromise  
  • Maintaining Intelligence requirements and an Intelligence Collection Plan for data and intelligence about an array of threats to our customers
  • Mapping criminal journeys to our Fraud Attack Chain/Mitigation Matrix, using structured thinking to help identify critical steps from initiation to execution of fraud
  • Engaging with vendors and external/industry partners to share intelligence about threats to Virgin Money and the wider UK financial sector
  • Delivering tactical and deep-dive assessments to an array of technical and executive stakeholders, with a focus on Fraud Strategy, Fraud Operations and Fraud Analytics

We need you to have

  • Experience identifying fraud threats to customers – ideally in a financial institution, but relevant Government and/or corporate exposure is welcome
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ensuring factual accuracy, attention to detail and readability for non-specialist stakeholders
  • Experience working with intelligence platforms (e.g. Recorded Future, Biocatch, Intel471) and engaging in open-source and deep and darkweb research
  • Great critical thinking skills, as demonstrated by your experience in understanding complex problem sets and prioritising threats
  • Stakeholder engagement experience – joining up, collaborating and pushing for the greater good

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

  • Experience in Cyber Fraud Fusion, Threat Intelligence, Fraud Intelligence or a closely related field
  • Familiarity of qualitative intelligence methodologies and structured analytical techniques
  • Knowledge of data analytics, graph analytics or relational analysis as applied to the fraud threat environment

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
