Our Team

We’ve an opportunity within Operational Resilience Tech, for an Operational Resilience Specialist. It may not be an exciting title, but it’s an exciting role! You’ll work in the Operational Resilience Team (Ops Res) reporting into the Ops Res Framework Manager, working primarily on supporting the delivery of the Disaster Recovery (DR) testing plan. You may also be involved in wider team activity across Ops Res, Operational Continuity in Resolution (OCIR), and scenario testing.

In short, DR testing is the process of verifying that a bank’s critical systems, applications and data can be restored effectively following an outage or disruptive event. Testing is performed using structured methods — from walkthroughs and desktop assessments through to full technical failovers. The goal is to validate that required objectives are met, weaknesses are identified, and that recovery plans remain accurate and up to date.

This role cuts across multiple areas of the Bank so we’re looking for self-motivated, proactive individuals who have great communication skills and who are ready to make a real difference. This is a great opportunity to broaden your experience in Operational Resilience / Disaster Recovery and build your network across the Group.

  • Lead, coordinate or support execution of DR tests, guiding technical teams through recovery steps and monitoring progress against expected outcomes.
  • Manage communications during tests, including status updates, incident escalation and stakeholder briefings.
  • Out of hours (OOH) working may be required to support / coordinate DR testing (paid as overtime or taken as time in lieu with agreement of People Leader)
  • Providing SME support to stakeholders across the Group on activities that could impact on premises, technology, information, people or 3rd parties relating to important business services.
  • Coordination of monthly reports - collating, analysing and summarising of operational resilience findings to create a holistic view of operational resilience across the Bank.
  • Supporting with the management of the Operational Resilience risk profile, including Control Assessments and reporting
  • Supporting the development and implementation of Operational Resilience activities, prioritising the needs of various stakeholders both within and out with VM (e.g. Regulatory expectations) while ensuring resource and operational challenges are managed.
  • Maintaining the banks’ Operational Resilience Framework ensuring it remains compliant, in line with the latest FCA and PRA guidance, and that we are continuously improving.
  • Working with colleagues across the business to ensure Operational resilience has a positive contribution to VM’s performance by supporting the effective running of any appropriate Operational Resilience forums.
  • Actively seeking process improvements to drive quality and efficiency as well as identifying, owning, and resolving any risk issues.
  • Supporting the integration and alignment of Virgin Money and Nationwide policy and process
