We have an exciting opportunity for a new permanent People Leader in our Financial Crime Operations team in the first line as part of our ongoing growth.  The role requires strong people leadership, excellent attention to detail, motivation and demonstrable subject matter expertise in financial crime. Candidates should possess knowledge of AML/CTF legislation and experience in customer risk assessments would be advantageous.

You will be managing a team of financial crime investigators and senior investigators to operational and regulatory service levels, delivering excellent customer and colleague service whilst always ensuring we are compliant with financial crime policy.  The role requires excellent time management skills, often involving multiple work strands with differing deadlines.

The department covers all financial crime tasks for VMUK– this is a diverse and interesting role for the right candidate.

The role includes project input and acting as subject matter expert on behalf of the department, liaising with first and second line on customer and risk outcomes, reviewing ML/CTF escalations and approving Customer Risk Assessment ratings.

  • People Leadership – delivering excellent operational performance and colleague development
  • Subject Matter Expertise – leading a team of financial crime experts, feeding into projects in a timely and constructive way, acting as point of escalation and maintaining compliance with policy and regulation
  • Proactivity – managing your own workload and priorities
  • Operational excellence – embedding and championing best practices
  • Task and Service Level Management: Client Screening, Transaction Monitoring and Customer/Business Risk Assessments – keeping the bank and our customers safe
  • Payment filtering approvals involving sanctioned countries
  • Technical Excellence – Maintaining service levels through systems management, continuous improvement and proactive resource utilisation, quality outcomes
  • MI production and analysis for system performance and trends
  • Financial Crime Reporting – delegated authority for SAR/DAML checking, Customer Risk Assessments
  • Risk Management – delivering outcomes against our Risk Control Self-Assessment

To be brilliant you must have…

  • Experience of managing a subject matter expert (SME) team in financial crime
  • Background in people management and service level delivery
  • Ability to manage and prioritise your own workloads
  • Commitment to delivering excellent outcomes for customers and keeping the bank safe
  • Financial Crime experience (at least 2 years in a Financial Crime role or ICA AML certificate)

It’s a bonus if you have…but not essential  

  • Qualifications in Financial Crime advantageous (Advanced Certificate, AML Diploma or equivalent)
  • Business account experience (structure analysis, risk typologies, risk assessments)
